Sea Day Cloudy some sun Temp 26c Just a low swell about 10
knot wind.
This morning we both went to Geoff Gray’s lecture “Australians
Who Are They” betty was most interested as she was born there and she wanted to
know who she is. It was another interesting lecture where he really gave a
potted history of Australia and Australians with many pictures in his
Powerpoint show. In the end I think everyone thought Australians are not so bad
people, well that is except the New Zealanders in the audience. Just kidding we
all get on great except when they play us Rugby. On a day when we had smooth
seas they did not put on Line Dancing but those are the breaks. Ian and I did
manage to get in a game of table tennis all be it that we were very rusty. Our
evening entertainment was to see the production show “British Invasion” We went
expecting it to be the music of Merseyside, The Beatles, Herman and The
Hermits, Cila Black, Tom Jones etc. instead it was mainly Queen and very loud,
not one of their best shows as far as we were concerned. Afterwards we had
decided to go to the Vista Lounge to hear the second show of Ross Maio a Multi
Award Winning International Instrumentalist playing hot keys on a Piano Accordion
which had been electronically modified. His second show started at 9.45pm but
we arrived after the Princess Theatre show finished about 9pm thinking we would
just sit there until his show started. However, when we got there he was still
finishing his first show which started at 8.15pm. After hearing the last part
of his show we decided it was not for us so we went to the Atrium where Darren
Bethell plays and we like him. Sometimes you can be lucky not only was he
playing but he was joined for some time by Ashley Carruthers who also plays
piano and is a headline artist. It seemed like a spontaneous performance but
they may have planned it but anyway it was great.
