Sea Day Cloudy Temp 21c Fine. Swell causing some motion of
the ocean.
From the Navigator
Throughout the day, Sun Princess will maintain a west
south-westerly course as we make our way Nawillwill located on the island of Kauai,
part of the Hawaiian archipelago. It’s nicknamed “the Garden Isle” thanks to
the tropical rainforest covering much of its surface. The dramatic cliffs and pinnacles
of its Na Pali Coast have served as a backdrop for major Hollywood films, while
the 10-mile long Waimea ‘canyon and the Nounou Trails traversing the Sleeping
Giant Ridge are hiking destinations.
This morning we went along to hear about the next port of
Nawiliwili from the new port lecturer Doulas Pearson who has just joined us. He
is much better than the first one we had as we could understand him without
straining. It seems we will need to take our rain jackets and umbrellas with us
as one part of the island has the most rainfall of anywhere in the world, 11.28
meters. At 2.30pm we went to the Princess Theater to listen to Adel Thorne a
Canadian give a lecture on Australian Aboriginal Dot Art, we thought it was an
odd lecture for a Canadian and we lasted 15 minutes before leaving. From what
she was saying I don’t think she has been to either Alice Springs or Darwin and
has not travelled Oz much at all. We could have gone to learn how to do the
Hawaiian Hula Dance which was at least taught by 2 Hawaiians who just got on.
Our entertainment tonight was to go to the show by the Production Company
entitled “Save the Last Dance” and as usual it was good. Our clocks go back by
an hour tonight so it will be a very early night in bed.
