Tahiti at the port of Papeete Sunny early but cloudy later
Temp 27c
Docked at 8am. As we have been here at least 3 times before
our plan today was just to walk into the town which is very close have a coffee
and maybe look for some fast WiFi. We had coffee at $A5.25 for a small cup, we
then split so that we could each just look at what we wanted to (read Alan does
not want to keep looking at jewelry) I did not take long to get a frig magnet
before heading back to the ship to pick up my iPad as there was WiFi in the
Tourist Office. It turned out to be free but not very fast however I managed to
amuse myself until Betty came by and we went back to the ship for lunch. Around
5pm we met Bev & Ian, Jan & Bob at the bottom of the gangway so that we
could all go together to where the food trucks gather in the evening, in a nearby car park and where
on the World Cruise we all had lovely crepes. Coral & Norine were going to
come with us if they got back from their tour in time but they did not. We were
a little early as the trucks were only just setting up however all aboard time
was 8.30pm so we did not want to be late. The Crepe truck we were interested in
set up right in front of where we were sitting and as soon as they were ready
we ordered. We did have one eye on the weather because late afternoon it poured
with rain. Just in case we selected 2 table under the awing of the truck. By
the way you would have no idea of the amount of equipment they store in this
truck/van including about 12 folding table and at least 72 stools. We all had
crepes and French cider and it was all delicious. As a bonus the rain stayed
away. We managed to return to the ship in good time to see the “Papeete
Folkloric Show” starring O Tahiti E a group of about 20 who put on a good show
of music and dancing. We sailed for Bora Bora at 9.30pm.
