13th August 2016

Sea Day Partly Cloudy Temp 23c Slight swell.

Navigator just told us that we are travelling west south-westerly and a bit about speed in Knots.

The port talk today was about Lahanina which is the port after Honolulu. We do not have a tour planned for that day but it was good to hear that although it is a tender port the tender boats dock right in town. He said that it is a nice town to walk around in. Betty spent the morning going through her photographs in preparation for putting them into a slide show. I went to anther lecture by Geof Gray this time entitled “ Is Australia America’s best friend?”. It was another good lecture full of details about the relationship between Australia and America over the years. I am going to try to copy it on my video camera from the TV On demand in our cabin because I would like to  Have it to view again at home. Later we went to the Atrium to see the “Hawaiian Melodies” with Hawaiian Ambassadors Tul and Taimane who got on in San Francisco and presumably will be getting off in Hawaii. This is a father & daughter combination, he plays the Ukulele and she dances the Hula. It gets us in the mood for Hawaii. Our entertainment tonight was once more in the Princess Theater to listen to David Pengelly who played the Ukulele with the Princess Orchestra and was very good. Also tonight as the nights are getting warmer there was a “Love Boat Deck Party” on the open deck 12. Betty & I decided to go along to see what was going on. They had the singers & dancers up there together with a combination of musicians. It was obviously a planned event as they had video of the original cast of the show Love Boat as they are today on the big screen doing their version of some disco. Later the Production Company people came out in sailor uniforms and did disco then invited the passengers to dance. We got up and did a little. While we were up when the music stopped Mark the cruise director asked those in love to put up your hands then he called for couple who have been married for 25yrs, then 30 yrs and so on progressively the hands went down until the last ones standing was us will 59 years. As a result, we were given a bottle of French Champagne which we will take to dinner tomorrow night to share with our group. The clocks went forward again tonight so we could stay out late. I’m sure there are couples on this ship who have been married longer than us but they were probably tucked up in bed.
