14th August 2016

Sea Day Partly Cloudy Temp 25c Slight swell causing a little roll.

The port talk this morning was about Hilo but we did not go because it clashed with the Sunday Worship Service which was again run by our friend Steve the Customer Service Manager. Then it was usual morning coffee before I went to the next lecture by Geoff Gray this time called “Hawaii the Pacific Melting Pot” Again a very informative lecture and here’s a trivia question for you, “Who were the first immigrants to Hawaii” the answer is Fruit Fly and they think they blew in from Australia. Why blame us??? The diverse population includes Polynesian, Hawaiians, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Filipinos, Koreans and Caucasians. They were a territory of the US before becoming a State in 1959. The English Union Jack is in the corner of their flag because of the strong ties the ruling Family had with the British Royal Family, particularly Queen Victoria. His lecture was too full of facts for me to remember them all. There was a Barbeque outside on deck 14 today for lunch which was very nice and quite a change. We both walked deck 7 this afternoon and it was very pleasant. Entertainment was Bernie Fields the Harmonica player giving his second concert which was not quite as good as his first.
