Coffs Harbour Windy and lots of rain.
Had a very interesting night. There had
been warning out all day about the approaching storm bringing high winds and
rain. We were a little concerned because of all the large trees around but the
site we were on appeared not too bad. However, about 12 midnight we were
awaking by what sounded like gun shots on our roof. It was, we think, the
accumulation of rain on the leaves of the trees which came down in large drops
and also twigs dropping from the trees. Some
of you will know that both Betty & I are practising Christians and we were
saying prayers that the solar panels etc on the roof of the Motorhome would not
be damaged. Once more I had an example of prayers being answered because I am
sure my mate upstairs said you had better move. So just after midnight we
decided to look by torchlight for another site which was clear of large trees.
At that time the rain eased allowing us to see that a site close by was clear
above. I disconnected the services, power water etc. and we moved. We just
reconnected the power and left the other services until the morning. We also
did not put the slide-out out. The rest of the night was quiet and we slept
well. This morning I advised the office that we had moved and we are now once
more settled. Our previous site has quite a lot of small branches on it which
would all have landed on our roof. The rain has hardly stopped all day.
Sometimes it is quite heavy and accompanied by strong wind. We are glad we did
not plan to be on the road today and have spent the day warm and dry in our
box. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will have cleared as we plan to drive to
the Gold Coast. We hear on the news that they have been having similar weather.
We even had a power outage this morning.
