At Sea Overcast with some mist 27c
From the Navigator
Throughout the night and early morning Sun Princess will
maintain a westerly heading. At approximately 7am we will pass Marchinbar
Island on our port side, continuing on course until we are abeam of Cocker
Island on our portside, where we will alter course to the south-west. Once
abeam of Lingi point on the Coburg Peninsula, we will alter to port once more
and set a southerly heading as we enter the Dundas Strait. As we exit the
Strait at approximately 10pm, we will then enter the Timor Sea.
After breakfast this morning we attended the Worship Service
in the Vista Lounge conducted by the Customer Service Director Lord Steven Ross
who did a really good job.
At 11am I attended a presentation by the Reef Pilot Captain
Conlin Warwick who told us about his work piloting ships of various sizes
through the Great Barrier Reef which is off the coast of Queensland in this
area. He also told us about some of the mishaps which have happened over the
years, including in March 1970 when the Oceanic Grandeur hit a rock which was
right in the middle of the channel and uncharted. It was amazing that no other
ship had hit it. The rock is now charted and has been given the name of OG
Rock, he said he is not sure if it was named after the Oceanic or if it was Oh
Gee! While I was at my lecture Betty went to the Aerobics Studio to find out
about 5 in 1 Sun Glow mineral make-up. 7 people turned up and 3 were from our
group.
Our entertainment tonight was to go to the
Princess Theater to see the second show of Vocalist Chris Powley who we saw a
couple of night ago. He is a terrific entertainer and we now how his CD. Lots
to read tonight with tomorrows Patter and info on Darwin where we will be
tomorrow.
